President Joe Biden was in Greensboro, North Carolina, April 14 to discuss his plans for ‘Building a Better America,’ a plan that addresses pressing economic issues and a global leadership role for the United States.
The president spoke about U.S. leadership in global technology, the bright future industries like cybersecurity, advanced manufacturing, and health care have, and much more, the Guardian reported.
“It means bringing manufacturing jobs back, building supply chains here at home, not outsourcing from abroad,” Biden said.
“Every action I’ve taken to rebuild our economy has been guided by one principle: made in America means using products, parts and materials built right here in the United States of America,” Biden said, according to the Guardian.
Prior to the presentation at North Carolina Agriculture and Technical University, Biden said that under his leadership, “Our economy has gone from being on the mend to being on the move,” a comment he repeated during the speech to 250 people.
The president did not forget about inflation, which is at its highest rate in 40-some years, according to a News and Observer report. Biden attributed increases in inflation to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the resulting increase in gas prices.
“I know that we’re still facing challenges of high prices, inflation,” Biden said. “We need to address these high prices, and urgently, for working folks out there.”
He said his plan will do that.
“When we build more in America, we increase economic capacity,” Biden said. “And ultimately, it helps lower everyday prices for families.”
