City of Greensboro Fire Department issued the following announcement on Dec. 23.

Station 7 & EMS Base 1 opening and dedication yesterday was a historical moment for the GFD.

We wanted to capture and share the special moments experienced between the people honoring Chief Ray Flowers. It is through the quiet and personal conversations shared between people where differences and change are overcome.

During special events and moments like these, our department is reminded of our family like atmosphere and our ability to overcome and grow from adversity. Ray Flowers played a pivotal role and serves as a role model for our community. It is an honor to have a building that will represent his legacy.
