Congresswoman Kathy Manning, who represents North Carolina’s 6th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently addressed several significant issues through her social media platform. Manning, a Harvard and University of Michigan graduate, has been serving since 2021 after succeeding Mark Walker.

On December 3, 2024, Congresswoman Manning highlighted the benefits of a policy initiative by Democrats to cap insulin costs at $35 per month for seniors on Medicare. She noted that this measure is helping over 4,200 seniors in her district save hundreds annually on essential medication. Manning emphasized the ongoing efforts by House Democrats to extend this cost cap to all individuals in need. “Thanks to Democrats’ $35/month cap on insulin costs, over 4,200 #NC06 seniors on Medicare are saving hundreds a year on this life-saving medication. @HouseDemocrats will keep fighting to cap that cost for ALL who need it.”

The following day, December 4, she expressed concern over economic challenges faced by families due to rising costs and criticized House Republicans for attempting to dismantle benefits such as Social Security and Medicare. Manning reaffirmed her commitment alongside House Democrats to safeguard these programs from what she described as right-wing attacks. “While families struggle with rising costs, House Republicans are focused on dismantling Americans’ hard-earned benefits. @HouseDemocrats will keep fighting to protect Social Security and Medicare from right-wing attacks.”

Later that day, Manning conveyed her sorrow over the passing of Yvonne Johnson, Greensboro’s first African-American mayor and a prominent community leader known for her public service contributions. She extended her condolences to Johnson’s family during their time of grief.”I’m deeply saddened by the passing of my good friend Yvonne Johnson, Greensboro’s first African-American mayor and a trailblazer who uplifted our community through her decades of public service. My thoughts are with her family during this difficult time.”
