True Safety--Psalm 57:1
True safety does not come from circumstances around us but from the security offered in Jesus Christ. The writer of this psalm rests securely in God’s presence as life’s storms pass by, held in safety like a fledgling bird under an eagle’s wings.
The apostle Paul knew this security, too. As he traveled to share the good news about Jesus, he encountered many obstacles. He was jailed and held in prison. He was shipwrecked and almost killed. He was hungry, sick, tired, and often disappointed. Paul knew not to trust his security to changing circumstances or to his own changeable feelings, but to trust Christ and his constant love. No matter what happened, Paul knew that God held him faithfully in constant care.
God's presence does not prevent storms from occurring, but God guides you through the dangers and equips you for every task you face. In the recovery challenges you encounter now, God gives security that no one else can provide. God offers strength and patience to withstand and survive all the storms that come your way.
Father, hold me safely in your protecting love. Remind me that no storm can separate me from you. Amen.
