Piedmont Triad International Airport has seen a major decrease in travel for last month due to COVID-19, the Greensboro News & Record reported.
The airport released its numbers from March, showing it was down by 55% for March compared to the previous March, the news agency reported. The airport saw a drop in passengers from 88,613 to 40,244, which the news agency says will likely only get worse when April's numbers are released.
While January and February were good for the airport, the dramatic downturn will leave the first quarter of 2020 down by 17%—from 232,200 last year to 193,240 this year, the news agency reported.
American Airlines and Delta Airlines both saw a drop in their passengers by 50% for the month at the airport as well, according to the news agency.
The news agency reported that, according to CNN, domestic airline capacity in April had dropped by 71%. The news agency reported national air travel is down drastically.
