Approximately two dozen students were awarded scholarships from the charitable organization The Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro.

Most of the recipients are high school students, with a couple of college and charter school students also received scholarships. The financial awards were from 14 categories.

The foundation released the names of the award winners on July 10.

"The Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro inspires giving, maximizes opportunities and strengthens communities for present and future generations," according to the foundation's mission statement.

Founded in 1983, the tax-exempt public charity has nearly $200 million in assets, manages 670 charitable funds, and distributes over $25 million in annual scholarships and donations. The fund has been established by individuals, families, businesses, and organizations in order to give back to the community.

The foundation's stated vision for its city "is a welcoming and thriving place where people work together to enrich the lives of all."

A full list of the scholarship recipients is available on the foundation's website.
