First Lutheran Church recently issued the following announcement.
Since school is beginning earlier than normal this year, we have moved our annual Blessing of the Backpacks up a week to show love and support to our school aged children. FLC will be offering a special drive-through event on Sunday, August 9 from 2-4 pm. Bring all bags that need to be blessed and receive blessing tags to hang on them for the coming year. For safety, Pastor Emily will be wearing her mask and gloves for this event. For those unable to attend this drive-through event, we will also be offering a blessing during both of our Sunday services, August 9. Logistics: Pastor Emily will be set up at the north entrance (contemporary). We ask that you drive in the main entrance off of Friendly, drive straight back toward the garden before circling left and back around toward the building. Once complete, you will drive back out the main entrance.
Blessing of the masks: We will also take a special moment where we will bless our face masks, too. Since kids going back to school may have to continue wearing their masks to school and the rest of us wear them on a daily basis, we will offer a special blessing for these face coverings that not only protect us from the virus but is an outward sign of our love for our neighbors. Have your backpacks and masks with you during virtual service.
