City of Burlington recently issued the following announcement.

EVERY PERSON IN YOU PARTY NEEDS TO COMPLETE THE REGISTRATION FORM!
Grab a friend and get out for a walkabout in the woods! This guided hike will take you 2.5 miles on the Haw River Trail, the Island Trail and the Highlands Trail. We will get some great views of the river and the dam at Glencoe. Expect natural surface trail (roots, rocks, etc.) over rolling terrain with a few steep hills.
Wear comfortable, closed-toed shoes. Kids welcome with accompanying adult. The hike starts promptly at 6:00 pm. Plan to arrive a few minutes prior to the start time. The parking lot is small, please carpool if possible.
What to Bring:
- Water bottle
- Insect repellent.
- Trekking poles (optional, but recommended)
- Mask. Masks are required during check-in and while gathering before the hike (but not while hiking).
