The Guilford County Republican Party rebuffed an advertisement stating that state Sen. Michael Garrett (D-Greensboro) supported North Carolina small businesses.
"Vote Michael Garrett" and "Support small businesses," the ad reads, which the Guilford County Republican Party posted to its Facebook page on Oct. 20.
The county GOP's comments come as the 2020 election date nears and Republicans seek to widen their numbers in the senate and control the Governor's office.
"Not sure what Michael Garrett has done for Guilford County and small businesses except siding with King [Gov. Roy] Cooper on every bill!" the party posted to its Facebook page. "He even said he has earned re-election because he has a voice in the Governor's mansion. Well, after Nov. 3, he will not have voice in the Governor's mansion nor in the NC Senate when Dan Forest and Sebastian King wins."
Garrett's Facebook post also stated that "Small businesses are the backbone of the economy — that's why I'll continue to stand with business owners in North Carolina until we get our economy back on track."
