West Friendly Avenue lane closures underway after water main break

The City of Greensboro announced on May 4 that both eastbound lanes of the 3900 block of West Friendly Avenue, from Rodman Road to Idlewild Avenue, are closed due to an eight-inch water main break. About 20 customers in the area are currently without water service.

City crews will remain at the site until repairs are finished, lanes are reopened, and service is restored. The city expects this work to be completed by 4 p.m. today. Signs and traffic cones have been placed in the area, and motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid delays.

Residents who experience discolored or cloudy tap water after repairs should run cold water for several minutes through a faucet without an aerator—such as an outside spigot or bathtub—until the water runs clear.

For any emergencies related to water or sewer services—including main breaks, sewer stoppages, or changes in taste, odor, or color of drinking water—residents can contact Water Resources’ 24-hour Dispatch at 336-373-2033.

Additional information about lane and road closures is available at www.greensboro-nc.gov/RoadProjects. Residents may also subscribe on that site for email notifications about upcoming work on city streets.
