The family of a Greensboro man killed in a hit-and-run accident is imploring the driver to turn themselves in to police.
According WFMY News, Jerry Martin McBride, 67, was hit by a vehicle traveling south on North Church Street. The driver reportedly stayed at the scene following the accident, but left before police arrived. Witnesses have described the vehicle as a black 2002 Saturn L200. An investigation by the Crash Reconstruction Unit is ongoing. McBride reportedly died after being taken to the hospital, WFMY reported.
Jerry's brother Rob McBride is urging the driver to turn themselves in.
"If you did this please go to the police and turn yourself in and own up to what you did because you pretty much, not only did you take the life of my brother you took a life, period," Rob told WFMY.
Jerry's family is requesting that anyone with information come forward. Individuals with information can contact Greensboro/Guilford Crime Stoppers by phone at 336-373-1000.
Rob's last contact with Jerry was to check if he was still coming to Thanksgiving.
“It was just like, this isn’t real. I was waiting to wake up and I was like, 'This can’t be my brother.' He’s the type of guy you’ll think will live forever,“ Rob told WFMY.
