CITY OF GREENSBORO PUBLIC LIBRARY: Homework Helpers at McGirt-Horton Branch

City of Greensboro Public Library issued the following announcement on Nov. 13.

Homework Helpers is an after school work group for students interested in doing homework or having a quiet reading time. We will also learn about free resources your GCS number unlocks!No registration is required; feel free to drop by on Tuesday, November 15 at 4 pm. Water and light snacks will be provided.

Reader Readers Club: Superhero Books at Glenn McNairy Branch – The "Ready Readers" program is a monthly event for young readers that highlights popular book series that children love. Each event includes selections read aloud by the librarian from favorite easy reader or early chapter books, followed by a craft or activity and book recommendations. This program is recommended for ages 5-8, but all ages are welcome.

This month we will be talking about all kinds of superhero books and running a "Black Panther" superhero training course!

This program will also be held on Tuesday, November 15 at 6:30 pm and also on Thursday, November 17 at 2 pm.

Read to Me with NC Pet Partners at McGirt-Horton Branch – Reading to a pet can improve confidence and comprehension skills. Trained therapy animals provide a calm, non-judgmental audience for readers, whether struggling, reluctant, or new.

Sign up for a 20 minute session on Wednesday, November 16 from 5 yo 7 pm with one of these therapy animals and their trained handlers. Some reading guidance can be provided to ensure a positive experience.

Reading Buddies at Kathleen Clay Branch – Want to polish your reading skills? Sign up for a 15 minute time slot on Thursdays from 6 to 8 pm to practice reading aloud. This program is for children in K-5th grade. Email Miss Barbara to register for a time slot: barbara.moss@greensboro-nc.gov
