FOIA Request to Guilford County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
The Greensboro Reporter, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, has submitted a request under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. §132-1. The request seeks detailed information about all candidates running in the upcoming election.
We at the Greensboro Reporter are seeking a list of all candidates for the forthcoming election. This list should include each candidate's first name, middle name, last name, the office they are running for, jurisdiction of the office, and party affiliation.
In addition to this basic information about each candidate, we have also requested all available contact information for each individual. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.
As members of the media committed to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we believe that access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We have therefore requested a fee waiver as media professionals engaged in disseminating information to the public.
We await a response from the Guilford County Election Department and will continue our efforts to provide comprehensive coverage of local governmental affairs.
